John Krasinski was initially reluctant to write A Quiet Place 2

October 22, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With the original film grossing $334.5 million worldwide to become of this year’s biggest critical and commercial successes, it’s little wonder that Paramount Pictures is very keen to push ahead with a sequel to A Quiet Place.

Speaking at a Q&A at the Silver Screen Theatre in Los Angeles (via Dark Horizons), director John Krasinski has revealed that he’d originally told Paramount to move ahead without him as he wanted to keep the movie as a special one-off experience that he’d shared with his wife and co-star Emily Blunt.

“That was my intention for the movie itself,” said Krasinski. “Then I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, ‘Just go do the movie with somebody else.’ They heard some pitches, and I told [producer] Drew [Form] about this little idea. And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”

Paramount has set a May 15th 2020 release date for A Quiet Place 2, and it’s yet to be confirmed whether Krasinski will be back in the director’s chair.

In the modern horror thriller A QUIET PLACE, a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threaten their survival. If they hear you, they hunt you.

A Quiet Place sees John Krasinski directing and starring alongside Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.
