John Wick creator adapting My Friend Pedro video game as R-rated TV series

July 6, 2020 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Legendary Entertainment is teaming with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad for a TV adaptation of DeadToast Entertainment’s action-packed shoot ’em up video game My Friend Pedro.

Released last year to critical acclaim, My Friend Pedro revolves around an unnamed silent protagonist battling his way through the criminal underworld and eliminating targets at the behest of a floating sentient banana called Pedro.

Kolstad is set to write the TV adaptation, which is described as “an R-rated half-hour dramedy series”, as well as executive producing with John Wick co-director David Leitch through Leitch’s 87North Productions. Dmitri M. Johnson’s DJ2, the company behind the recent Sonic the Hedgehog movie, will also produce with Legendary Television.

My Friend Pedro becomes the latest project on Kolstad’s upcoming slate, which includes John Wick: Chapter 4 and its TV spinoff The Continental, writing credits on Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and two other potential video game adaptations in Just Cause and Hitman.
