Jonny Lee Miller to play John Major in The Crown season 5

June 27, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Jonny Lee Miller is set to follow Gillian Anderson’s Golden Globe-winning turn as Margaret Thatcher by taking up residence in 10 Downing Street as British Prime Minister John Major in the upcoming fifth season of The Crown.

Major succeeded Thatcher as leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister in 1990, a position he held until Tony Blair’s Labour came into power in 1997.

Trainspotting and Elementary star Miller is one of a host of new additions to the latest season of the acclaimed Netflix drama, with the show once again refreshing its cast with the likes of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.

Production on season five of The Crown is set to get underway in July.
