While much has been made of the tonal shift from last year’s divisive DC blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with the upcoming Justice League movie, Total Film has posted a piece where it described the ensemble as a “direct sequel” to Batman v Superman, as well as revealing that it will pick up right where the latter left off.
According to the magazine (via We Got This Covered), Justice League will begin with “Superman in the grave after sacrificing himself during the battle against Doomsday. Batman and Wonder Woman are gathered in mourning before Steppenwolf makes himself known, leaving the duo to team up with other enhanced heroes.”
There is of course nothing earth-shattering in that news – we know from the marketing material that Superman is still “dead”, and that Batman and Wonder Woman will spend a good portion of the movie assembling the League in order to do battle with Steppenwolf.

Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Iris West, Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf, and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
