Kevin Hart to go On the Run, wants Mrs. Doubtfire remake

December 17, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

Variety is reporting that Kevin Hart is teaming up with Universal Pictures to produce and star in On the Run, an action comedy which is being scripted by Aeysha Carr (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

Although details are scarce, the film will see Hart taking on the role of a hitman whose assigned target turns out to be a surprise. Hart will produce with Will Packer, the two having previously worked together on Ride Along and Think Like a Man.

Meanwhile, Hart – who will next be seen alongside Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Karen Gillan in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – has also revealed that he’d like to remake another Robin Williams classic in the 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire.

“I’ll stay on the Robin Williams train and say that if I could jump into Mrs. Doubtfire,” Hart told CinemaBlend. “That was a very amazing performance on both ends for him. I think that’s one I’d love to get to play in.”

A sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire was in development from 2001, but was ultimately cancelled in 2014 following Williams’ passing. Let us know in the comments below if you’d like to see Hart taking on the lead in a remake…
