Killing Floor 2 gets free Halloween update

October 17, 2023 by Andrew Newton

Tripwire Interactive has released the latest free content update for their brutal first-person co-op shooter Killing Floor 2. The update, titled Last Hans Standing arrives just in time for Halloween and brings a new map to fight over, an event with bonus rewards, weapons etc and more weapons and perk balancing.  Watch the new trailer for this latest update below….

Killing Floor 2 has always provided nightmarish levels that test players’ skills at killing Zeds but with Last Hans Standing players may be facing their toughest challenge to date as they head into Dr. Hans Volter’s WWII-era stronghold.

Hidden away in the Bavarian Alps lies Castle Volter, a grim and foreboding castle with high vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses and a wealth of scientific equipment used for immoral and unethical purposes. This equipment is the source of the doctor’s long life and somewhere within the maze of equipment is the original Dr. Volter, laying in stasis while creating endless clones of himself.  Players will need to get in quick, kill the original Dr. Volter and fight their way out through hordes of Zeds.  This new map supports Survival, Endless and Weekly modes.

A new Bounty Hunt weekly mode also arrives to challenge players.  In this mode, a fixed number of ‘Bounty Zeds’ are spawned at the start of each wave. These are tougher than normal Zeds and will try to avoid the players.  The longer they stay on the map, the tougher they become so hunt these down as quickly as possible.  Successful completion of a Bounty Hunt while the weekly mode is active will reward players with a special Bounty Hunt weapon skin for the Desert Eagle handgun.

The Last Hans Standing event will provide five in-game objectives related to the Castle Volter map to complete. Completion of each one will reward 150,000 Vault Dosh and completing all five objectives during the event will earn players a special Volter-themed weapon skin for the MKB Assault Rifle.  This event will end on 14th November.

Other items included with this free update include:

  • Paid DLC: MG3 Shredder Machine Gun with 5 Weapon Skins. This will be free for players who own the Ultimate Edition or Armory Season Pass 2.
  • Free DLC: HRG 93R Pistol.
  • Cosmetics: Three Weapon Skin Bundles, One Outfit Bundle. These are included for free for players with the current Cosmetic Season Pass: These skin bundles are Chameleon MKIV Weapon Skin Bundle; Medieval MKII Weapon Skin Bundle; Spectre HRG MK II Weapon Skin Bundle and the Last Stand Uniform.

Tripwire Interactive will also be holding several Halloween themed sales and special promotions.

Killing Floor 2: Last Hans Standing is available now.
