Kingsman cast and crew discuss broken teeth, spy films, and more

February 11, 2015 by Robert Kojder

In preparation for its North American release, a premiere was held for Kingsman: The Secret Service with members of the cast and crew in attendance. Filming the hyper-violent satirical spy movie seems to have been a positive experience as everyone had good things to say. Well, Colin Firth admits he broke a tooth when inquired to about injuries.

I broke a tooth, which was probably the one that was most troublesome,” he said. “I collided with a hard object. I don’t know whether it was a gun or a pole? I don’t think I particularly noticed [the pain] until later.

Firth still loved being aboard though , also going on to profess his affection for spy shenanigans.

I was in love with this stuff as a kid — I’d fantasize that all my school equipment was actually something else. Those of us with ordinary lives, that’s a way in: We’re not really this ordinary, secretly we can do all these incredible things, and we’re on a mission to save the world.

Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson offered some advice on why moviegoers should go see Kingsman over the film’s weekend competition, 50 Shades of Grey.

For those of you who think you’re gonna see this film for free tonight and Fifty Shades of Grey, I just want you to know that you can probably make your own version of Fifty Shades of Grey at home and it’ll be better than the version that you’ll pay your money to go and see! I suggest you take some friends to see this as your Valentine’s gift.

Finally, the film’s director Matthew Vaughn also chimed in, talking up that it was time to make spy movies fun again.

The fun thing was bringing in old gadgets and making them relevant. “In Skyfall, Q says, ‘We don’t do gadgets.’ I thought, if I were a spy in a modern-day world, I’d quite like having a blade covered in some horrible toxin or a watch that shot amnesia darts. That would help you in life! Let’s bring it back. If Bond ain’t got it, we’ll take it!”
