Kristen Stewart comments on the social media campaign pushing for her to play The Joker

October 21, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Currently wowing everyone on the festival circuit with her terrific performance in Pablo Larrain’s Spencer (read our ★★★★ review here), Kristen Stewart has taken time out from answering questions about the People’s Princess to address the social media campaign pushing to have her cast as a different kind of royalty; Gotham’s Clown Prince.

Variety broached the issue by asking Stewart whether she’d ever consider playing Batman’s nemesis, to which she sportingly replied “I love the energy behind that. It’s really been done so well. I feel like, maybe, we don’t traipse over, but I love that gusto. Let’s figure something else out. I’m totally down to play a freaky, scary person.”

When pressed on whether that was a hard ‘no’, the Personal Shopper (and there’s a film you should all seek out straight away) star said “Not ‘no,’ but not the most stoked I’ve ever been. Let’s do something new.”

Something new for the Twilight actor consists of David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, which has just wrapped, and stars Léa Seydoux, Viggo Mortensen, and Scott Speedman in a near-future science-fiction in which humankind is learning to adapt to synthetic surroundings which alters their biological makeup.

As always, let us know what you think of Stewart’s comments and whether you’d like to see her cast as a character similar to The Joker, by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be a whole lot different. SPENCER is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.

Spencer is set for release in the UK on November 5th 2021.
