Krysten Ritter to lead Orphan Black spinoff Echoes

July 31, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Amid growing rumour and speculation about a potential Jessica Jones return for Marvel Studios, AMC has announced that Krysten Ritter is set to lead the cast of Orphan Black: Echoes.

A spinoff from the hit sci-fi thriller series starring upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany, Orphan Black: Echoes will take place in the near future and promises “a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence.”

As per AMC’s press release, the series will follow “a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.”

Ritter, who previously worked with AMC on Breaking Bad, will take on the role of Lucy, “a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world.”

As well as starring, Ritter will executive produce the 10-episode season alongside creator and showrunner Anna Fishko (Fear the Walking Dead) and Orphan Black co-creator John Fawcett, who is also on board to direct.

Ritter was last seen on screen in Netflix’s YA fantasy horror Nightbooks, and also directed and executive produced Peacock’s supernatural horror series The Girl in the Woods. Next up for the actress – assuming rumours of a Jessica Jones return in She-Hulk don’t pan out – is David E. Kelley’s miniseries Love and Death, coming to HBO Max this year.
