Lady Gaga confirms Harley Quinn role with promo for Joker: Folie À Deux

August 4, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Lady Gaga is about to enter Arkham Asylum as the star has taken to her Instagram account to confirm her role in Joker 2, which has just locked down a 2024 release date.

After weeks of rumors, Lady Gaga posted a promotional video hyping up the release of Joker: Folie À Deux. She’ll take on the role of Harley Quinn, the love interest to Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck/Joker. Check out the Joker: Folie À Deux promo video here…

The Joker sequel is also heavily rumored to be a musical, which is something Todd Phillips hasn’t done before. The filmmaker leaped from comedy to drama with 2019’s Joker, and he’ll make another filmmaking leap with this musical drama inspired by the DC comics.

Joker was released in 2019 and became a smash hit, earning over $1 billion for an R-rated film and an Academy Award for Phoenix as Best Actor for his performance as Fleck. The sequel, titled Joker: Folie À Deux, will likely make a big splash; something that DC and Warner Bros. Discovery desperately need right now following the Batgirl drama.

Joker: Folie À Deux will begin production in December ahead of a 2024 release date.
