Laurence Fishburne joins The Witcher Season 4

January 12, 2024 by Ricky Church

Netflix has announced The Matrix and John Wick alum Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of The Witcher for its fourth season, which will see Geralt of Rivia played by Liam Hemsworth after Henry Cavill’s departure following the third season.

Fishburne will portray Regis, a “world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past.” The character was introduced in The Witcher novel Baptism of Fire, the third book in Andrzej Sapkowski’s main Witcher series and fifth overall after his two anthology collections which began the series. Regis was also a prominent character in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt‘s DLC story expansion ‘Blood and Wine’.

“After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.”

Fishburne joins a cast that includes Liam Hemsworth, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey as Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri and Jaskier respectively. The third season also starred MyAnna Buring, Tom Canton, Jeremy Crawford, Eamon Farren, Mahesh Jadu, Terence Maynard, Lars Mikkelsen, Mimî M Khayisa, Royce Pierreson, Wilson Mbomio, Anna Shaffer, Therica Wilson-Read, Cassie Clare, Mecia Simson, Graham McTavish, Bart Edwards, Simon Callow, Liz Carr, Ed Birch and Kaine Zajaz. alongside series newcomers Robbie Amell,  Meng’er Zhang, Hugh Skinner, and Christelle Elwin.
