Live-action Resident Evil Netflix series casts Lance Reddick as the iconic Albert Wesker

June 11, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Cool, calm, and often threatening, Lance Reddick is a skilled genre actor. He’ll get to test these abilities by playing one of the video game’s most iconic villains. Reddick has been cast as Albert Wesker in the upcoming Resident Evil live-action series.

He’ll join Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez, who all have undisclosed roles at the time of reporting. Reddick is a prolific actor, starring in films like John Wick and the 2020 award-winning One Night in Miami. He’s also had starring roles in television series like starring roles on shows like The Wire, Oz, Bosch, and Fringe.

Originally ordered by the streamer in August of last year, Netflix has given the one-hour show an eight-episode order. Supernatural’s Andrew Dabb serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Mary Leah Sutton will also write and executive produce.

As per Deadline, the series is set “nearly three decades after the discovery of the T-virus, an outbreak reveals the Umbrella Corporation’s dark secrets.” There’s no word if the series will be connected to the original movie series or the upcoming film franchise reboot arriving in the fall.
