Lucy Lawless joins Ash vs. Evil Dead

It’s another Sam Raimi reunion as STARZ have announced that Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) has joined the cast of their upcoming show Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Lawless is set to play Ruby, a mysterious figure who is on her own quest to hunt down the person responsible for this deadite outbreak – and she thinks Ash is the man behind it all.

She and Raimi have worked together previously on Xena: Warrior Princess, a show that also featured Bruce Campbell, who will reprise his iconic role here as the titular Ash. They also worked together on Spartacus, Spider-Man and Boogeyman.

“Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal.”

Ash vs Evil Dead will debut on STARZ later this year and will also see Ray Santiago (Touch) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell and Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Amanda Fisher. Sam Raimi will direct the first two episodes and will serve as a producer on the series along with original series producer Robert Tapert.
