Luke Cage season 2 casting breakdown reveals two new characters

April 23, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage readying itself to go into production, MCU Exchange has got its hands on casting breakdowns for two new series regulars set to join Mike Colter’s Power Man in the Netflix series.

[BYRON] 30 – 45, 6’0 or taller, Jamaican, but open to Black Caribbean or African Descent. The smartest man any room, the most effortlessly powerful man in any situation. A natural leader, brimming with resentment, but focused on justice. Physically fit and wildly intelligent. Speaks with a native accent from Jamaica / Caribbean / Africa, etc. SERIES REGULAR

[TAMARA] mid-20’s – early 30’s, African American, female, earthy. A brilliant, confident business owner who prides herself on her independence.. As much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her. ACTORS MUST BE STRONG SINGERS. SERIES REGULAR

While the names are likely placeholders, the site has speculated that Byron could be John McIver, a.k.a. Bushmaster, and Tamara may be Luke Cage’s sister (although Luke doesn’t have a sister in the comic books, Marvel may have decided to gender swap his brother, James Lucas Jr, for the show).

Luke Cage season two is yet to receive a premiere date from Netflix, but Mike Colter will be back in the role this August when The Defenders hits the streaming service.
