Mandy director Panos Cosmatos has lined up his next project, with the filmmaker set to direct and co-write a science-fiction fantasy romance entitled Nekrokosm for A24.
Described as a “phantasmagorical fantasy nightmare” the film will take place “deep within a strange galaxy where two lovers are torn apart as they try to survive a malevolent invasion”.
Cosmatos is set to direct the film from a story he’s developed with Maegan Houang (Counterpart), who is writing the script, and the project will reunite him with Mandy production company XYZ Films. A24 is financing and distributing.
Nekrokosm will mark Cosmatos’ first project since the Nicolas Cage horror hit Mandy in 2018. He previously made his directorial debut in 2010 with the sci-fi horror Beyond the Black Rainbow.
