Marvel announces the Death of Deadpool

January 9, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Deadpool is going to be following in the footsteps of Wolverine and meeting his maker, with Marvel announcing that it’s killing off the Merc with the Mouth in the upcoming Deadpool #45, which marks the 250th issue of Deadpool across all his volumes, and also the last of the current series.

“This is something we’ve been naturally building towards,” says writer Gerry Duggan. “This isn’t being done lightly. It always comes down to what we think is right and Marvel has been very king and gracious with us and let us get away with murder: in a literal sense. I have no problem telling you I’ve always wanted to kill Deadpool and not just kill him but kill him in the way that we are killing him.”

The issue will give Wade a stellar send-off, with Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn and Mike Hawthorne serving up a 30-page main story and Gerry, Brian and Scott Koblish delivering a long lost tale where Deadpool gets hold of the Infinity Gauntlet and summons the entire Marvel universe of the Roast of Deadpool. Also included are new stories from Paul Scheer & Nick Giovannetti (Deadpool Bi-Annual), Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang Bang), Ben Acker & Ben Blacker (Thunderbolts, Thrilling Adventure Hour), Jason Mantzoukas (The League), Mike Drucker (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon) and more.

Deadpool #45 will go on sale in April.
