The latest chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins its global roll out this week as Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp arrives in North America, along with around half of the international markets.
Deadline is reporting that the Peyton Reed-directed sequel is expected to gross around $155 million worldwide this weekend, with a domestic haul in the region of $85 million and a further $75 million internationally.
It would not be a surprise however if the movie exceeded this, particularly with it coming off a major MCU cliffhanger in the box office juggernaut Avengers: Infinity War.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will be without a number of major markets in its opening weekend; it doesn’t arrive here in the UK until next month, and is yet to secure a release date in China.

Ant-Man and the Wasp sees Peyton Reed returning to the director’s chair and stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael Pena (Luis), David Dastmalchian (Kurt), Abby Ryder Fortson (Cassie Lang), Judy Greer (Maggie), Bobby Cannavale (Paxton) and T.I. (Dave), while new additions to the cast include Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster/Goliath, Hannah John-Kamen as The Ghost, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo.
