Marvel’s The Eternals aiming to start shooting in September 2019

November 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Although much are Marvel’s Phase Four plans are being kept under lock and key, we do know that the next slate of movies will include the launch of a brand new cosmic franchise in The Eternals.

The project recently secured a director in Chloe Zhao (The Rider), who will helm from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, and now we may have a possible start date for production on the film.

According to That Hashtag Show, Marvel is aiming to get cameras rolling on The Eternals in September 2019, which lines up with the recent rumour that the movie is being eyed for release in November 2020.

Based on the comic book created by Jack Kirby, The Eternals movie will focus on “super-powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals and a more monstrous off-shoot known as the Deviants that were created by cosmic beings known as Celestials.”

Assuming the info is accurate, it’s likely that we’ll hear very little about The Eternals until the summer, what with Marvel being preoccupied with the releases of Captain Marvel, Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home, as well one or two more Marvel movies going into production before then for release in May 2020 and July 2020 (depending on whether the now-delayed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is replaced in the slate by another project, or Marvel decides to give up one of its three 2020 dates).
