Mary Elizabeth Winstead talks DC’s Birds of Prey, confirms January shoot

November 20, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Having filled the key role of young Cassandra Cain last week, Warner Bros., DC Films and director Cathy Yan have all the main players in place for the DC girl gang movie Birds of Prey ready to kick off production early in the New Year.

During an interview with Bionic Buzz, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead – who is set to take on the role of Helena Bertinelli, a.k.a. the Huntress – has been chatting about the film, as well as confirming that cameras are set to start rolling in January.

“It’s sort of a spinoff of Suicide Squad. It kind of follows Harley Quinn, which is Margot Robbie’s character from those films, and this sort of girl gang that she puts together. I play Huntress, and we’ve got Black Canary, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Rosie Perez and Ewan McGregor. It’s a really fun, fun cast. We haven’t started shooting yet, but we start shooting in January, and I can’t wait.”
