Matt Damon confirms his Fake Loki return in Thor: Love and Thunder

July 29, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Earlier this year, we got a taste of Matt Damon’s return to the world of Thor and now the actor has finally confirmed what we all knew.

While promoting his film Stillwater on SiriusXM, Damon was asked about his involvement in Thor: Love and Thunder. Leaked set photos have placed Matt Damon on set with the returning Luke Hemsworth (Fake Thor) and Sam Neill (Fake Odin) for another play scene. This time, they’ll be joined by Melissa McCarthy appearing as Fake Hela, who was also spotted on set.

Damon addressed those leaked photos and teased what the scene will be like in the final product. He went to say he had a “ball” and called the upcoming scene an “upgrade” of what was done in Thor: Ragnarok.

“I don’t know if it’s secret or not though everybody knows,” said Damon. “I went down there to shoot. I think they sussed out because paparazzi took pictures of us so that they sussed out what we were doing. We were kind of reprising a cameo that we that Luke Hemsworth and I did in the last one. And we had a ball, and so Taika [Waititi] had us back again, to kind of run that joke back and upgrade it a little bit.”

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Russell Crowe (Unhinged) as Zeus and Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.
