Meet the new factions in Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground

May 12, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Three new trailers have been released (see below) for the upcoming turn-based strategy game Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground today providing an overview of the three different factions that players will get to choose from when the game launches on PC and consoles on 27th May.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground takes place in the dark fantasy world created by Games Workshop and puts players in charge of one of three armies fighting for superiority in epic, fast-paced tactical battles.  Each of the three factions will have their own campaign and players will be able to unlock new units, wargear, weapons and devastating skills so they can customise their armies.

These three factions are:

  • Stormcast Eternals – These valiant knights are avatars of Sigmar himself and are resolute in their fight against the forces of Chaos.  With their mastery of lightening and heavy armour, they are a force to be reckoned with.
  • The Nighthaunt – These are the multitudes of ghosts, malevolent spirits and banshees working as one to drag the living into the underworld.  They hate anything living and they will stop at nothing to bring death to all.  Although weaker than the other factions their huge numbers can soon overwhelm any enemy.
  • The Maggotkin – The putrescent forces of Nurgle are bound by their Chaos god to remake everything in Nurgle’s image.  Despite their sluggish behaviour these monstrous creatures will infect anything they come across including turning hex tiles into dangerous hazard zones that inflict terrible effects on the toughest of enemies.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground arrives on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on 27th May.  Pre-orders are available now.
