Michael Chabon to serve as showrunner on Star Trek: Picard

June 30, 2019 by Gary Collinson

CBS All Access has announced that celebrated novelist Michael Chabon (Wonder Boys) is set to serve as showrunner on Star Trek: Picard, the upcoming small screen sequel to Star Trek: The Next Generation featuring the return of Patrick Stewart as the fan favourite Jean-Luc Picard.

“Star Trek has been an important part of my way of thinking about the world, the future, human nature, storytelling and myself since I was ten years old,” said Chabon (via TV Line). “I come to work every day in a state of joy and awe at having been entrusted with the character and the world of Jean-Luc Picard, with this vibrant strand of the rich, intricate and complex tapestry that is Trek.”

Joining Stewart in the cast of the show are Santiago Cabera (Salvation), Michelle Hurd (Blindspot), Alison Pill (The Newsroom), Harry Treadaway (Mr. Mercedes), Isa Briones (Takers) and Evan Evagora (Fantasy Island).
