Milla Jovovich to costar alongside director James Franco in Future World

May 19, 2016 by William Fanelli

Milla Jovovich has joined the cast of a new sci-fi indie film called Future World. She will costar alongside James Franco, who is also set to direct the film with Bruce Thierry Cheung.

Future World follows a young noble boy, accompanied by his bodyguard, who ventures out into the depths of this future world to seek out medicine he’s not sure even exists for his dying mother. With danger at every turn, he must rely on his inner strength to push onward, ultimately facing the Warlord of the world and his beautiful, human-esque robot assassin.

The script for Future World was written by Cheung, Jay Davis and Jeremy Cheung. Deadline states Jovovich will play the role of “a drug lord in a post-apocalyptic world that is plagued with heat, ravaged by disease and crippled by chronic war.” George Lewis Jr., better known as Twin Shadow, has also been cast in the film. He will play the role of Ratcatcher.

Jovovich was last seen in Ben Stiller’s Zoolander 2 earlier this year. She can be seen reprising her role of Alice in the upcoming Resident Evil installment Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

Franco, on the other hand, has been extremely busy with a slate of more than a dozen films in some capacity of production. Most intriguing is his directorial effort The Masterpiece, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Tommy Wiseau’s The Room, in which he’ll play the role of Wiseau.
