Molly Shannon joins Only Murders in the Building season 4

February 15, 2024 by Ricky Church

Saturday Night Live veteran Molly Shannon has joined the cast of Only Murders in the Building for its fourth season, according to Deadline.

The upcoming season will pick up from the third season cliffhanger which saw Charles’ friend and stunt double Saz, played throughout the series by guest stat Jane Lynch, shot after she was potentially mistaken for Charles. This act will lead Charles, Oliver and Mabel on a trip to Los Angeles in their investigation into Saz’s murder.

Shannon will star in a main role as “a high powered LA business woman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in NY.”

Only Murders in the Building follows Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putman and Mabel Mora as residents of the apartment complex The Arconia who start a true crime podcast after a murder in their building. The series has become a huge hit for Hulu and attracted a number of high-profile stars in recurring or guest roles in the series, such as Nathan Lane, Tina Fey, Shirley MacLaine, Cara Delevingne, Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep.

Shannon is best known for her time on SNL as recurring characters “joyologist” Helen Madden and Catholic high school student Mary Katherine Gallagher, the latter of whom starred as the central character in the 1999 comedy Superstar. More recently she has starred in The White Lotus, The Other Two and I Love That for You.
