More than twenty classic Warhammer titles arrive on Steam with Warhammer Classics

April 15, 2026 by Andrew Newton

Publisher SNEG, alongside Games Workshop, has released Warhammer Classics, a collection of retro Warhammer games, on Steam. This new collection restores lots of classic Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 games from the last 30-odd years. A new trailer (see below) showcases some of the games now available.

Video games based on Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer have been going on for far longer than many gamers today realise. Gremlin Graphics released HeroQuest and Space Crusade in the very early 90s, then Space Hulk by Electronic Arts (EA) in 1993. From then, gamers have had a grand old time becoming absorbed in these marvellous universes.

The Warhammer Classics collection allows older fans to enjoy the nostalgia of these titles, while allowing a whole new generation of gamers to discover the games that helped build the popularity of some of the best game universes around. These older games reflect the Warhammer universes as they were at that time; for example, Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat may not match the lore of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Each of these debut and returning titles has been updated to ensure compatibility with modern systems and smooth performance while at the same time maintaining the original gameplay that made them hugely popular with fans. The games in this collection span a range of genres from real-time strategy and turn-based tactics to fantasy sports, digital board games, and first-person shooters.
