Universal Pictures has picked up the rights to Tamer Elnoury and Kevin Maurer’s book American Radical: Inside the World of an Undercover Muslim FBI Agent for a feature film adaptation, which will reteam Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail and star Rami Malek.
Esmail will direct and produce the movie, which will details Elnoury’s experience’s with the U.S.’ elite counter-terrorism unit post 9/11 as he infiltrates and brings down a terror cell in the United States. Malek will portray Elnoury, as well as producing the film.
Esmail and Malek will also reunite for a fourth season of Mr. Robot, but before then Esmail has the Universal/Amazon drama series Homecoming starring Julia Roberts, while Malek will appear in the big screen in Papillon this August, followed by the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody in November.
