Ms. Marvel begins production, with Moon Knight to follow in the New Year

November 19, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having wrapped filming on the likes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision post-lockdown, Marvel Studios is now turning its attention to its second batch of Disney+ shows with Discussing Film reporting that shooting is now underway on the Ms. Marvel TV series.

Ms. Marvel is being headlined by newcomer Iman Vellani, who will take on the role of Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager who has the ability to stretch her limbs to incredible lengths and shape-shift to almost any size. Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and a Funeral) is writing and serving as showrunner on the series, and the production is taking place in Atlanta, Georgia.

Meanwhile, the site goes on to reveal that with Oscar Isaac now on board to play Marc Spector, the Moon Knight series is aiming to start shooting in Budapest, Hungary early in the new year, once Isaac has finished up work on HBO’s Scenes from a Marriage. Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab (Cairo 678) will direct the series, with Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy) writing and showrunning.

In addition to Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight, Marvel also has She-Hulk on its upcoming TV slate, which may or may not have cast Orphan Black’s Titana Maslany in its lead role.
