Mythic Quest cancelled after four seasons, updated finale coming next week

April 12, 2025 by Ricky Church

After a four season run on Apple TV+, the streaming service has decided to cancel Mythic Quest according to Variety. However, despite the fourth season concluding a couple of weeks ago, the now series finale will be updated next week with a new ending that reflects its complete finale nature.

Mythic Quest followed the staff of a video game studio that produced the titular game, a massively popular MMORPG. It starred Rob McElhenney, who was one of the series’ creators, Charlotte Nicdao, Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin.

“Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, ‘Mythic Quest’ is coming to a close,” said series executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby and Rob McElhenney. “We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build—and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode—so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”

The news comes not only after the fourth season’s conclusion, but after the debut of its spin-off Side Quest, an anthology focusing on other characters in the series whether they worked at the Mythic Quest office or streamed the game. The updated finale will arrive on Apple TV+ next week.

Season four of Mythic Quest brings stars Rob McElhenney, Charlotte Nicdao, David Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis and Naomi Ekperigin back together under the same fluorescent office lights. The reunited team at Mythic Quest confronts new challenges amongst a changing video game landscape as stars rise, egos clash, relationships bloom and everyone tries to have a little more work work life balance.
