Natalie Dormer joins Mel Gibson and Sean Penn in The Professor and the Madman

September 2, 2016 by Gary Collinson

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer has signed on to appear alongside Mel Gibson and Sean Penn in The Professor and the Madman.

Based on Simon Winchester’s book about the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary and directed by Farhad Safinia (screenwriter of Apocalypto), The Professor and the Madman will see Gibson as Professor James Murray, who began compiling the OED in 1857, while Penn plays contributor and asylum inmate Dr W.C. Minor. Dormer is set to portray a widow whose husband was killed by Minor and whose family he wants to help, leading to a complicated romance.

Gibson has been looking to get the project off the ground since 1998, and cameras are finally set to start rolling later this month.
