Netflix orders Tuca & Bertie animated series from BoJack Horseman producer

February 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Netflix has added a new animated series to its original content slate, with Deadline reporting that the streaming service has picked up Tuca & Bertie, which has been created by BoJack Horseman supervising producer Lisa Hanawalt and has Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) attached to voice the lead character.

The series is described as “a comedy about the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan (Haddish), and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.”

In addition to voicing Tuca, Haddish will executive produce alongside Hanawalt, BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg and BoJack producers Steven A. Cohen and Noel Bright.

Haddish will next appear in the Tracy Morgan comedy series The Last O.G. which premieres on TBS in April, as well as starring opposite Kevin Hart in November’s comedy feature Night School.
