New patch arrives for Mars or Die!

October 8, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer 34BigThings has released an epic update for their roguelite meets tower defence action packed strategy title Mars or Die!  This new update brings lots more content including units, defensive structures, a new Hardcore mode and an entire new campaign.

Three new alien units arrive with the update to provide more challenge for players, these include the Bomber – mobile explosive aliens, Sniper – an aggressive and tough alien that can fire from long range and Jetpack Grunts that can drop anywhere on the battlefield.

To combat these new threats players have access to a number of new defensive structures, including Barricades, Mortar Turrets and Stun Turrets.  If that wasn’t enough a new tructures Upgrade System will allow defenders to spend their resources and strengthen turrets individually.

For those wanting a more challenging playthrough of the Conquest and Liberation campaigns a new Hardcore Mode is now available that will test the skills of even the most epic of players.

A new 9 missions Campaign will take players to the deepest darkest recesses of the Red Planet to find the source of a dangerous new threat.

“This patch upgrades and expands all the work we have done on Mars or Die!” says Valerio Di Donato, CEO of 34BigThings. “We were all downhearted with the project’s negative reception. The team morale was very low, but we managed to turn this into positive energy, and went back to the drawing board to conceive new ways to improve Mars or Die!, and I think we have succeeded”.

“Our first goal was to improve the strategic depth of the product” continues Giuseppe Enrico Franchi, Game Designer. “We streamlined some clunky mechanics such as building and upgrading, introduced new elements such as single-turret upgrades, new long-range and short-range defensive options, a new underground ambient, and of course, tons of bigger and badder enemies! We are satisfied with the end result and we hope players will be too”.

The new update for Mars or Die! is available now.
