New trailer for The Professor and the Madman starring Mel Gibson and Sean Penn

Ahead of its release this May, a new trailer has arrived online for The Professor and the Madman, director Farhad Safinia’s upcoming adaptation of Simon Winchester’s book The Surgeon of Crowthorne. The biographical drama stars Mel Gibson as the titular Professor, James Murray who in 1857 began to compile the Oxford English dictionary with the help of asylum inmate William Minor (Sean Penn); watch it here…

Based on the best-selling novel, THE PROFESSOR AND THE MADMAN tells the true tale of madness, genius, and obsession that led two remarkable men to leave their imprint on history with the writing of the Oxford English Dictionary.

The Professor and the Madman is set for release on May 10th and features a cast that also includes Natalie Dormer (Game of thrones), Ioan Gruffudd (Forever), Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), Steve Coogan (Stan & Ollie), Laurence Fox (Lewis) and Jennifer Ehle (The Miseducation of Cameron Post).
