New update for Age of Water takes players Beyond the Waves

January 18, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Gaijin Entertainment and Three Whales Studio have announced the release of the latest update for their post-apocalyptic nautical adventure, Age of Water. The Beyond the Waves update continues to expand the game’s dangerous world with new challenges, powerful weapons and gripping storylines, and also marks the end of the game’s Early Access phase.  Watch the trailer for the new update below…

The Beyond the Waves update brings a brand-new team PVP mode called ‘Control Points’, this mode will have players working to seize and defend strategic points across the sea.  While we’re on about the sea, they now hide five perilous zones with each guarded by a powerful boss that increases in difficulty from the last one fought.

Those brave adventurers who like to voyage beyond chartered waters will now find the waters are much more dangerous, as lurking just beyond the sector’s edge is a massive world boss.  This unique enemy will push the player’s skills to the limit but this encounter is likely to be very rewarding, should they survive.

To help in the fierce battles ahead, players now have access to a sixth rank of weaponry.  This unlocks devastating new firepower, including the introduction of the rocket launcher.  There’s also the arrival of a new crew member, so captain’s no longer have to sail alone.

Last, but by no means least, the update expands the world with ten new combat zones designed for on-foot firefights that offer opportunities for intense close-quarters action.  These zones will require players to adapt their tactics from those of naval warfare.

The Beyond the Waves update is available now.
