One Piece begins its live-action Netflix journey with teaser trailer

June 18, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Monkey D. Luffy wants to become the king of pirates, and we’ll see that nautical adventure unfold in the new Netflix series, One Piece.

The streamer recently debuted the first official look during the Tudum fan event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. We got to see a bit of the fan-favorite and iconic characters like Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), and Sanji (Taz Skylar).

One Piece is based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series in history by Eiichiro Oda. This Netflix project will mark the first time the manga will be adapted into a live-action. Since its premiere in Japan, the One Piece anime has aired over 1000 episodes and become a cult hit.

Check out the teaser trailer below…

The series will star Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Taz Skylar.

Inspired by the manga series, One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember. Motivated by his desire to become King of the Pirates, Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, ONE PIECE! But in order to find the ultimate prize, Luffy must assemble the crew he’s always wanted and find a ship to sail.

One Piece sets sail on August 31st only on Netflix.
