Orlando Bloom “odds on” for The Dark Knight in Superman vs Batman?

August 11, 2013 by admin

Another day, another Batman casting rumour… according to The Daily Express, Warner Bros. may have already found their Dark Knight for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel Superman vs. Batman, with the newspaper claiming that Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings) “looks odds-on to get the part even before the first casting call. He would be perfect to play off Henry Cavill and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads.”

Now, before any Orlando Bloom fans get excited, it should be noted that The Express’ report makes absolutely no reference to the Superman vs. Batman movie, instead claiming that Bloom and Cavill are set to play Batman and Superman in a Justice League film in 2017, with casting on Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter getting underway in the autumn. So, with that in mind, you’d have to assume that there’s a pretty good chance this report is nothing but pure fiction.

Superman vs. Batman is set for release in 2015, with Zack Snyder directing a script from David S. Goyer. Rumoured candidates for the role of Batman include Josh Brolin (Oldboy), Ryan Gosling (Only God Forgives), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Max Martini (Pacific Rim), Matthew Goode (Watchmen), Josh Duhamel (Transformers), Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Gerard Butler (300), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Brad Pitt (World War Z), Ben Affleck (Argo), Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), and Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2).
