Over 2500 actors have tested for young Han Solo in Star Wars spinoff

December 2, 2015 by Gary Collinson

With Harrison Ford reprising the role of Han Solo for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney and Lucasfilm have been quietly scouring the globe for a young actor to take on the iconic role for the 2018 Star Wars Anthology spin-off, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that over 2500 names have tested for the part.

Naturally, with so many actors in the frame, the contenders do include numerous familiar faces, including the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Dave Franco (Bad Neighbours), Miles Teller (Fantastic Four), Nick Robinson (Jurassic World), Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), Colton Haynes (Arrow), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Max Thieriot (Bates Motel), Logan Lerman (Fury), Hunter Parrish (Weeds) and Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) all said to have auditioned.

The article goes on to state that the casting team is ideally looking for someone in their mid-2os, “who looks at least a bit like a young Ford and can be funny and charming as well as handle the expected action scenes.”
