Paramount and Hasbro bringing G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionairies, M.A.S.K. and ROM together for shared movie universe

December 15, 2015 by Gary Collinson

With shared movie universes all the rage these days, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have announced that they are set to interconnect five of the toy manufacturer’s properties in G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionairies, M.A.S.K. and ROM.

“Paramount and Hasbro have had a longstanding relationship and we’re proud of the success we’ve enjoyed on the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises,” Paramount CEO Brad Grey tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re excited to grow our agreement and make even more movies based upon these popular and powerful Hasbro characters and their worlds.”

Much like the Transformers franchise going forward, Paramount and Hasbro intend on launching a “writer’s room” to develop their plans for the new movie universe.

A follow-up to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation has been in development at Paramount, and at this point it’s unclear whether G.I. Joe 3 will factor into this new venture, or if they’ll go down the reboot route.
