Pro-wrestling horror Dark Match casts Chris Jericho, Steven Ogg, and more

December 17, 2022 by EJ Moreno

The Ocho, The Wizard, or whatever Chris Jericho is going by these days, is returning to the world of horror.

Jericho has joined Death Match, the new film from Lowell Dean, the filmmaker behind Wolfcop. Death Match comes from Dept. 9 Studios, where they are filming in Edmonton, Canada.

Deadline reports Jericho will star with Ayisha Issa (Transplant), Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries), Michael Eklund (Wynonna Earp), and Jonathan Cherry (Goon).

Dark Match follows “a small-time wrestling company accept a high-paying gig in a backwoods town, only to discover when they arrive that the community is run by a mysterious cult leader with devious plans for their match.”

Jericho is most famously known for his work in professional wrestling, with a career spanning about thirty years. He’s currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, and also tours with his band Fozzy. Jericho has starred in a few horror films, most recently appearing in the 2022 cult film, Terrifier 2.

“It’s been a blast filming in Edmonton and working every day with such a talented cast and crew,” says writer and director Dean. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Dept.9 Studios and for the producer’s support in bringing Dark Match to life.”
