Psychological horror Tormenture gets launch date and trailer

October 9, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Billete Cohete and developer Croxel Studios have announced that their 80’s themed psychological horror, Tormenture, will be arriving on Steam for PC on 21st October.  This mix of 80s retro visuals and modern day psychological horror gameplay creates a world that is both terrifying and nostalgic.  Watch the new announcement trailer below…

In Tormenture, players take the role of a child who rents a video game that is said to be cursed.  As the game is played, the dangers the game contains begin to move out from beyond the screen and begin to affect the child’s real surroundings.  Players will have to solve challenging puzzles by interacting with items in the room, and dealing with pixelated horrors that appear to escape the confines of the old CRT television.

Tormenture connects the digital world with the physical and introduces game mechanics that will be very familiar to gamers of a certain age, such as blowing on game cartridges and taking notes while searching for clues.

Featuring:

  • Merging of retro aesthetics with modern game mechanics.  Pixel art in the style of the early 80’s 8-bits consoles blended with a 3D environment.
  • Multiple endings determined by the decisions made by the player.
  • Plenty of cultural references of the 80s include nostalgic items and details.

Tormenture will launch on PC via Steam on 21st October and can be added to wishlists now.
