January 15, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

Following an acclaimed festival run last year, Shudder has released a poster and trailer for Attachment, the Queer Jewish folk-horror romance from writer-director Gabriel Bier Gislason.

The film follows Maja, a has-been Danish actress who has fallen in love with a Leah, a Jewish academic from the UK. When Leah returns home after suffering a mysterious seizure Maja follows her to London where she meets her girlfriend’s highly secretive and overbearing mother, who she suspects is harbouring a dark secret. Watch the trailer below…

ATTACHMENT is a horror romance about Maja, a has-been actress in Denmark, who falls in love with Leah, a young, Jewish academic visiting from the UK. When Leah suffers a mysterious seizure, Maja fears their whirlwind romance might be cut short and decides to follow Leah back to her home in London. There, Maja meets her new downstairs neighbour: Leah’s mother, Chana. An overbearing, seemingly religious and highly secretive woman, Chana seems resistant to all of Maja’s attempts to win her over. And as Maja notices strange occurrences in the building, she begins to suspect that Chana’s secrets could be much darker than first anticipated.

Attachment arrives on Shudder on February 9th and features a cast that includes Josephine Park, Ellie Kendrick, Sofie Gråbøl and David Dencik.
