Quentin Tarantino casts Damien Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Luke Perry and more in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

June 7, 2018 by Ricky Church

Quentin Tarantino is quickly adding more actors to his next film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. According to Deadline, the film has lined up Damien Lewis (Billions), Dakota Fanning (Ocean’s 8), Luke Perry (Riverdale), Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), Clifton Collins Jr. (Westworld), Keith Jefferson (The Hateful Eight) and Nicholas Hammond (The Sound of Music).

Lewis will portray actor Steve McQueen while Fanning will be Squeaky Fromme, the Manson disciple who later tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford. Hammond will portray director Sam Wanamaker, Hirsch as Jay Sebring, the Hollywood hairstylist who was one of four victims in the Tate murders, Perry as Scotty Lancer, Collins as Ernesto The Mexican Vaquero and Keith Jefferson as Land Pirate Keith.

They join a cast that already includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Madsen and Tim Roth. The film is described as a Pulp Fiction-like tapestry that revolves around several characters at the height of the Manson Murders in the summer of 1969. The Manson Murders serves as a backdrop to the main story with Robbie playing actress Sharon Tate, the most well known victim of Charles Manson and his cult.

A story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbour… Sharon Tate.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set for release on August 9th, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the murder of Sharon Tate.
