Ron Howard shares set videos from the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff featuring a speeder junkyard

August 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Since Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, there’s been intense levels of secrecy surrounding the likes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

That extended to the as-yet-untitled Han Solo spinoff… until Ron Howard came on board as a replacement for directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The filmmaker has been very active on social media, giving us near-daily peeks behind the scenes of the Anthology movie, and he’s been back on Twitter again to share a couple of set videos, which appear to show some kind of junkyard filled with speeders and podracers; check them out here…

A previous spy video – which you can watch here – suggested that the film will see Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo taking place in some kind of “drag race” with “odd looking vehicles”, so it’s definitely possible that we’ll be seeing some kind of podracing sequence in the 2018 spinoff.

Han Solo stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) as the famous smuggler, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Beckett (Solo’s mentor), Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Ian Kenny (Sing Street), Michael K. Williams (The Night Of) and Warwick Davis (Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on May 25th 2018.
