Rumour: A third Star Wars live-action TV series in the works

February 27, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although Disney has suggested there’ll be a “Star Wars slowdown” in the wake of disappointing box office returns for last year’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case when it comes to the small screen side of the galaxy far, far away.

In addition to Star Wars Resistance and the upcoming Star Wars: The Clone Wars revival, Disney and Lucasfilm have announced two live-action series for the new Disney+ streaming service in The Mandalorian, along with a Rogue One spinoff following the character of Cassian Andor.

Well, according to Fantha Tracks, we can now add a third live-action series to that list as the site is reporting that Lucasfilm has set up the production company Series III Productions (UK) Limited in the UK, and that details of the as-yet-unrevealed project could be announced at April’s Star Wars Celebration.

Further details are scarce, but it has been rumoured recently that the planned Obi-Wan Kenobi Anthology movie has been reconfigured as a limited series. Whether these projects are one and the same, we’ll have to wait and see.

In the same report, the site reveals that E&E Industries (UK) Limited has also been set up, and is understood to relate to the first film from Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson’s new trilogy.
