Rumoured details and casting for the X-Force team in Deadpool 2

February 16, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last we we got our first real look at May’s hotly-anticipated sequel Deadpool 2 with a trailer that not only officially introduced Josh Brolin’s Cable, but also featured a rather intriguing shot of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Zazie Beetz’s Domino alongside three other mystery costumed characters.

One of them was fairly easily identified as Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), with speculation suggesting that he’s played George Washington ‘G.W.’ Bridge, and now according to Uproxx it seems we may have clarification on the other two mutants.

The site is reporting that online chatter has It star Bill Skarsgard portraying the character on the back left in the image above, thought to be Zeitgeist (Skarsgard recently worked with director David Leitch on Atomic Blonde), with Iron Fist actor Lewis Tan as the other, Shatterstar.

Looks like @DavidMLeitch is using a bunch of his ATOMIC BLONDE actors for DEADPOOL 2. @eddiemarsan was already revealed and it looks like one of the unknown mutants is indeed his co-star Bill Skarsgård. pic.twitter.com/Ll1qNwFiG9

As yet, we don’t have official confirmation on these characters and casting, nor do we have confirmation that group is X-Force, the team of mutants led by Cable in the comic books. However, given that all of the characters are associated with X-Force, and Fox has always planned to follow Deadpool 2 with an X-Force movie, it would seem a pretty safe bet.

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2 sees David Leitch (John Wick) directing a cast that includes returning stars Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) alongside new additions Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable, Jack Kesy (The Strain) as the film’s villain, and Shioli Kutsuna (The Outsider), Eddie Marsan (Atomic Blonde), Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) and Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on May 18th 2018.
