Rumoured details on a Star Wars: The Last Jedi battle sequence

April 8, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

After offering some details on Kylo Ren’s updated costume and Benicio del Toro’s mystery character, the folks at Making Star Wars are back with more Star Wars: The Last Jedi news, this time offering up some details regarding a battle on a previously unseen world.

According to the site, the Resistance has a base on the planet of Crait, which has previously been described as “Mars with snow on it” and is said to be a giant salt flat with stretches of large black volcanic rocks, red in colour due to lava seeping out from the rock formations. Apparently the Resistance control a mine on this planet, which is producing a gem that is used to fund their battle against the First Order.

An earlier report had suggested a First Order Star Destroyer would be orbiting the planet, and it seems that the bad guys will be launching an all-out assault on the Resistance outpost, complete with the “Gorilla-style” Heavy Assault Walkers mentioned a few weeks ago. The Walkers will come under attack from redesigned B-Wings, the cockpit of which can be seen in the following set photo:

It’s also said that the sequence could incorporate a ground battle featuring Resistance fighters going up against First Order Snowtroopers as they attempt to defend the mine.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set for release on December 15th and sees returning cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Mike Quinn (Nien Nunb), Simon Pegg (Unkar Plutt), and Warwick Davis joined by new additions Jimmy Vee (Pan) as R2-D2, Benicio Del Toro (Guardians of the Galaxy), Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) and Kelly Marie Tran (Ladies Like Us).
