Ryan Reynolds teases Phase 5 MCU debut for Deadpool

July 30, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox doesn’t seem to have impacted Marvel Studios’ plans for Phase Four of the MCU, Kevin Feige did tease the introduction of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men during the studio’s big panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

When and how that will happen remains to be seen, but Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has taken to Instagram to tease fans about a possible Phase Five debut for the Merc with a Mouth as he shares an update into his “investigation” into the leaked test footage (five years ago!) which ultimately convinced Fox to move ahead with the first Deadpool movie.

Now, before any gets too excited, it’s highly likely that Reynolds is just having some fun with the fans here, rather than announcing his upcoming introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Although Disney’s Bob Iger has confirmed that we haven’t seen the last of Deadpool, it remains to be seen how Marvel will handle the character moving forward. Will we see a recasting and rebooting into the MCU? Could the Deadpool franchise continue with Reynolds, albeit outside of the main Cinematic Universe? Only time will tell, but let us know what you’d like to see happen in the comments below or on social media @FlickeringMyth…
