Saoirse Ronan and Mia McKenna-Bruce join Sam Mendes’ The Beatles films

Sam Mendes’ ambitious The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event has filled out two significant roles with Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) and Mia McKenna-Bruce (Get Even)  set to star as two of The Beatles members wives.

Mendes’ Beatles will be a four-part film with each dedicated to one member of the groundbreaking band who remain beloved decades after their infamous break up. The films will star Harris Dickinson (Where The Crawdads Sing) as John Lennon, Paul Mescal (Hamnet) as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) as Ringo Starr and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as George Harrison.

Ronan will play Linda McCartney, Paul McCartney’s first wife who was a photographer in the 1960s and the first woman to have her photo on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. McKenna-Bruce will be Maureen Starkey, Ringo Starr’s first wife who worked as a hairdresser and was married to Starr for 10 years after they met in The Beatles; hometown of Liverpool.

The scripts for The Beatles are written by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne. Production is to take place throughout 2026 with all four films simultaneously releasing in April 2028. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Mendes’ Neal Street Productions are developing them with Mendes, Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor producing.

Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary.
