UPDATE: Saw 8 finds its directors, will shoot this year ahead of October 2017 release

July 14, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Last year it was announced that Lionsgate was in development on an eighth instalment in the Saw franchise, entitled Saw: Legacy, with the studio bringing in Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger (Piranha, Sorority Row) earlier this year to pen the script.

Well, it seems that Lionsgate has now found its directors for the franchise revival, with Bloody Disgusting reporting that Peter and Michael Spierig (Daybreakers, Predestination) have signed on to helm the film, and production is slated to take place in September and October.

Although details on Saw: Legacy are scarce, original creators James Wan and Leigh Whannel are said to be attached to executive producer, while Dan Heffner and Oren Kroules are once again producing, having done so on the previous seven chapters.

UPDATE: It’s now been confirmed that the film will hit on October 27th, 2017.

Are you excited about another Saw movie, and where would you like to see the franchise heading? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
