Sequel to 80s classic Beyond the Ice Palace launching in March 2025

November 29, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Back in the late 80’s, publisher Elite released the classic side-scrolling adventure Beyond the Ice Palace and challenged players to defeat the evil to the north of the titular palace. Now, Storybird Studio and PQube have reawakened the evil in the north and will be challenging a new generation of players to venture Beyond the Ice Palace 2 when it launches on PC and consoles on 13th March 2025.  Watch the new announcement trailer below….

Beyond the Ice Palace 2 captures the retro charm of the original as it brings the ‘Cursed King’ back from the dead to reclaim his throne.  Taking the role of the Cursed King, players will need to set out on a quest through the treacherous landscapes of the lands north of the Ice Palace and reclaim his throne.  Armed only with the chains that once bound him, the Cursed King must defeat numerous foes, including monstrous enemies, discover hidden and forgotten treasures and unlock powerful upgrades.

The game will feature:

  • An epic journey of vengeance and redemption where players will have to seek out the sacred arrow shards to unlock their full power.
  • Master the chains and use them to kill enemies and navigate across dangerous terrain.
  • Explore hidden chambers, gather treasures and discover powerful upgrades.
  • Collect power crystals to enhance the King’s abilities.
  • Retro-inspired pixel art merged with contemporary gameplay.
  • An unforgettable soundtrack by Allister Brimble (X-COM: Enemy Unknown, WORMS, RollerCoaster Tycoon).

Beyond the Ice Palace 2 will launch digitally on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, and physically on PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch on 13th March 2025.
