Sherlock Holmes Untold: The Adventure of the Music Hall Hearties launches from Big Finish

October 19, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish has released Sherlock Holmes Untold: The Adventure of the Music Hall Hearties, a new full-cast audio drama starring Nicholas Briggs and Richard Earl as the ultimate crime-solving duo. Big Finish has also provided a little trailer to get listeners in the mood for mystery, which you can find below…

This third of eight weekly full-cast audio episodes sees Holmes (Nicholas Briggs) and Watson (Richard Earl) called into Newgate Gaol to speak with a young man by the name of Bert Stevens, who has been accused of committing a terrible crime. With but a few days to go until he is hanged for this crime, the great detective discovers there is more to the case than the police have realised, and that there is a dreadful scandal within the acclaimed performance group, the Music Hall Hearties.

This episode stars Nicholas Boulton as Josiah North, Harriet Kershaw as Esmerelda North, Robert Whitelock as Anthony Kingsley, Christopher Naylor as Jasper Cranfield, and Luke Barton as Rosborough.

From L to R: Harry Myers, Nicholas Briggs, Harriet Kershaw, Richard Earl

Writer Jonathan Barnes said: “This story is from another tantalising reference in Doyle, to a young man, Bert Stevens, who tried to get Holmes to get him off for murder – a tiny hint from which you could extrapolate in any direction that you like. I’ve tried to be true in all of these, though, to honour the sense of the story that Doyle is gesturing towards.”

Sherlock Holmes Untold: The Adventure of the Music Hall Hearties is now available to purchase for just £24.99, exclusively from www.bigfinish.com. This purchase will grant access to all eight weekly episode downloads, as well as the complete serial as a box set download to own once all episodes have been released.
